Hi World, It's me, the sweetest chef!

What to say about me, My name is Julie. I am a pastry chef. A foodie. A lover of everything sweet and salty, and bitter, and tangy. A mom. And a spontaneous adventurer. A fearless eater. A tight squeeze in my jeans and an apron. I decided to start this blog after a whole lot of encouragement from my friends and family as an outlet for my passion!


Where to begin..

I grew up learning how to make pies in my grandmothers kitchen on weekends in a small country home outside of Lac Brome, Qc. A very sweet humble lady, she taught me how to properly make dough and cook apples to perfection. She taught me that there is no such thing as an unbuttered bun and that strawberries are absolute perfection with a side of homemade chantilly. She showed me that if you whip egg whites to perfection the most beautiful, fluffy, delicious meringue is created. A passion was born on a small stool by a kitchen counter with the smell of wild flowers and Johnny Cash playing in the background.


After high school I decided to give literature a try. I've always loved to read and write and I wanted to combine my love for writing with my love for food and become a food writer (hello past me we're finally doing it!) but my love for cooking took me back to the kitchen quicker than I could have imagined after a good culinary trip and a reoccuring love for working with my hands and so on to Culinary school it was!


After school I worked in a plethora of kitchens with some of the greats and some of the not so greats and found my way into the cutest little pie shop in the city where I made my home for 4 years. 4 of the best, most frustrating at times, giving and passionate years of my life.


Now I'm here to share. My love for food and wine and microbrews and coffee and well just about all the good stuff I can think about. Feel free to reach out with any comments and suggestions and I will gladly check it out!
